By unlocking valuable data insights, our software technologies allow Škoda to optimise and personalise its connected car services and enrich customer experience.
Industry challenge
The automotive industry is evolving fast. Consumers now expect smart and personalised experiences in their cars – and connectivity is a fundamental requirement to support services like infotainment, telematics and real-time vehicle updates.
As part of the Volkswagen Group, Škoda had to embrace this shift. It needed a solution to unify these services across its fleet and integrate with VW Group’s other brands like Audi and SEAT.
However, meeting different regulations across multiple regions while keeping ahead of competitors turned out to be a challenge. As demand for connected features grew, they risked falling behind without a reliable connectivity platform. Škoda needed a partner to not only provide the technology but also lay out a road map on its journey to becoming software-defined.
This is where we came in.
Škoda’s business goals
- Enhance customer loyalty by elevating the driving experience
- Move beyond reliance on third-party solutions like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
- Create new revenue streams by offering innovative digital services such as up-to-date infotainment software, web apps like Pay-to-Park and hotspot functionalities
- Navigate varying regulatory requirements across multiple regions while staying ahead of competitors
Our solution
Škoda’s first step towards software-driven transformation was adopting Cubic3 Cloud. This end-to-end solution unlocked complete control over its connected vehicle services. It enabled the delivery of infotainment, telematics and content streaming directly to its vehicles. Additionally, the real-time insights into data consumption and performances across its global fleet offered a unified view of how services were being used, allowing Škoda to continuously improve and personalise in-car services.
With data traffic classification and end-to-end regulatory compliance, we ensured that Škoda met the specific legal, tax and security requirements in every country where its vehicles were sold. This allowed the brand to expand its global reach without the burden of managing compliance in-house.
Finally, we also provided flexibility through seamless software updates, live diagnostics and adaptability to changing backend requirements and regional regulations. The ‘Adopt and Drop’ feature further enhanced the ease of adding or removing services as needed, enabling Škoda to stay agile in this fast-moving market.
